Archetype is a stunning-looking iPhone first person shooter (FPS) where you pit your your wits against other soldiers in team battles.
The graphics in Archetype are very polished and the game has a very console feel to it. The on-screen dual joysticks make for a comfortable and natural way to move, aim and fire. What's more, you can completely customize the way Archetype is played by inverting the aim axis, changing aim sensitivity, hiding the joysticks, or turning off auto-fire.
In terms of gameplay, Archetype follows the same approach as N.O.V.A or Eliminate Pro. You can take part in team battles where you're matched with up-to four other online players and must battle another team to the death, aiming to get the most kills before the time runs out. To keep things interesting, Archetype includes 5 different maps, six weapons and two types of grenades.
We found Archetype to be a lot slicker and less laggy than other iPhone FPSs. Joining a game is a very quick process and haven't experienced any connection problems.
With other features such as offline training and a challenge mode, Archetype is a very complete first person shooter that looks and feels even better than Eliminate.
Archetype is a must-have for all iPhone FPS fans. Newbies may struggle to make kills, though, as with most online multiplater shooters.
